Small add-ons to “How did you contribute …”?
by Pascal Neis - Published: November 19th, 2010
Because of the upcoming license discussions, I made some small additions to the “How did you contribute to OpenStreetMap?” website. First (1) I imported a new planet dump file dated 11/17/2010. Additionally the user can get the information now if the OSM contributor has agreed to the new ODbL/CT, indicated by a green “Agreed” at the bottom part of the page.
If the OSM contributor has not agreed to the new ODbL/CT yet, it’s showing a different message (3), requesting the contributor to review and accept the new ODbL/CT here.
I hope that helps and please remember: If a contributor has not agreed to the new license yet, it could imply that he/she does not know about the license changes so far!

thx @ Dennis
About the contributors not knowing about the license change:
That is indeed quite possible. Using the tool http://osm.informatik.uni-leipzig.de/map/ , I discovered that a lot of parts in my region were still red. I also knew someone working on it, I contacted him and he did know about the license change, but he didn’t know he had to agree. Although he is an editor since 2008 and he makes edits about every day (via JOSM though, he doesn’t come to the site).
Maybe the OSF could do more effort to contact the contributors. e.g. by making a mail, let it translate in all the languages of OSM and send it to all the contributors. Explaining that EVERYONE needs to agree if he wants his data to stay on the map.
fuck the new licence!!!!
Thx BuBu for your comment! The question is … should I leave your comment on here or should I remove it?
Ok, the cursing part does not sound very nice, but I have decided to NOT remove your comment from here. However, are you not satisfied with the new license or the way the license is changing in general? As you can read in the mailing-lists, some people are not against a new license, but they are not happy about how the license-changes are being made by the OSMF. What do you think?
